"Spirit of the Earth"

1999 “Spirit of the Earth" Vancouver Island marble, Chemainus, B.C. The sculpture is located at the corner of Chemainus Road and Victoria Street. The 11-foot marble sculpture represents a mystic First Nations princess, her robe adorned with the wildlife around Vancouver Island. An orca dives from her hair and an eagle soars interconnected with a salmon leaping upwards. The marble sculpture located across the street from the Chemainus Theatre.

In 2020, "Spirit of the Earth" was relocated one block to the north to Heritage Park at the corner of Chemainus Road and Mill Street. The move was requested by the Chemainus Festival of Murals Society for safety and aesthetic reasons, and approved by the Chemainus Advisory Committee and the Municipality of North Cowichan.
